Placer Cabin

Located in Old Chico on a gravel road, this was a great spot to get away from the crowds. This cabin, while rustic, has lots of upgrades and attention to detail. We only used the bottom but the upstairs looked inviting as well. An offshoot from Emigrant creek runs behind the property and listening to the babbling was very relaxing. We hiked up to the waterfalls -about 2.2 miles 1 way with an approximate 700 ft elevation gain (coming back was a breeze). The waterfalls were beautiful but please note that several trees have fallen creating an obstacle course. We felt the location was great.. easy access to Bozeman and YNP north entrance. It may not be close enough if you want sunrise in Lamar but that was not our goal during this portion of our trip. All in all a great ending for our vacation and would definitely stay again.

Me and my friends had a really good time in this cabin, and it makes you feel right at home in the middle of nowhere. Stars are amazing outside.

This was our third stay at this wonderful historic home. We love the location and modern updates while retaining the log cabin feel. We stayed 8 nights in Silver Gate in advance and used that as our base for Yellowstone and Beartooth Highway. We used Placer cabin to explore Paradise Valley. Stocked up on BBQ from Follow Yer Nose - great food. Brian is so attentive. Highly recommend.

Peaceful location. Nice 2 mile hike up to falls, 1.5 mile to Chico Hot Springs and also hiked along Old Chico Cemetary Road. We made great use of the patio as well. Overall great stay and wonderful host!

Overall, everything was fantastic. I would say my only "rant" would be that the pillows were flat and the main bathroom door was a little tricky to close (have to lift the handle a little to get it to latch). But really, in the grand scheme of things, these were minor and in no way a big deal. Our first morning there, I was unsure what to do with the full trash bag. I sent Brian a message, he was at the cabin within 10-15 minutes to pick up our trash. And he was by every morning to pick it up (we had a house full so had plenty of trash).Would definitely recommend!
